Wadicosa Zyuzin (Araneae: Lycosidae): a new species; and genus transfer of Pardosa mendicans (Simon) from the Arabian Peninsula

ABSTRACT

The wolf spider species Wadicosa saudica sp. n. is described from both sexes based on material from Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The configuration of the male bulbus shows affinity to that of Lycosa mendicans Simon, only known from the lectotype collected in Yemen in 1880. The latter was subsequently placed in the genus Pardosa and is here transferred to Wadicosa. A checklist of Lycosidae reported from the Arabian Peninsula is given.
