A new species of the genus Selenocosmia Ausserer, 1871 (Araneae: Theraphosidae) from the karst landscapes of Meghalaya, India

Abstract

We describe a new species: Selenocosmia meghalayensis sp. nov. from East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, north eastern India, based on three female specimens. The new species is diagnosed by a unique combination of morphological characters, with particular emphasis on the structure of the spermathecae, as well as somatic characters including coloration, setation, and morphometrics. Detailed descriptions and measurements, are provided. Notes on habitat and distribution map are included.
