The purpose was to draw attention to a problem that benefits from the experience of people working across taxonomy, venom research, and biological databases. Dr. Volker Herzig’s response, “The need for a unified toxin nomenclature for consistent toxin naming,” is precisely the kind of engagement I hoped to see. Redescription of Harpactea cecconii (Araneae: Dysderidae)


Abstract

The little-known spider species Harpactea cecconii (Kulczyński, 1908) is redescribed based on samples collected from the island of Cyprus. Photographs of the female copulatory organ are given for the first time. In addition, the fine structure of the spiniform embolus of the male copulatory organ is revealed by SEM photographs. The possibility that H. cecconii may be endemic to Cyprus is discussed.
